Among the first courses we cannot miss to mention the delicious testaroli, lasagne bastarde, panigacci, focaccette, sgabei (and much more…).
Other typical dishes you should taste: torta d’erbi (vegetable pie), pattona, typical bread such as crescente and marocca di Casola, delicious cold cuts and cheeses.
Some of the local sweets and cakes: spongata, àmor, buccellato.
Mushrooms and chestnuts
In early autumn this area is very popular among passionates of mushrooms and chestnuts.
For mushroom picking remember to get a regular card, for sale in various local businesses.
Chestnut flour has always been the basis of the diet of the people of Lunigiana and is still used in many preparations: try the “padléti”, the pattona, the marocca di Casola (a typical bread of the homonymous village).
